Six Ikea classics and how to style them
We used this in the alcove one side of the chimney breast in Jude's room. Josh was worried it would look budget because obviously it wasn't the exact right size and he wanted to spank a shit ton of cash on bespoke cabinetry but I was like 'HELP ME I'M POOR' (Bridesmaids anyone?) so we settled on this £65 jobbie. We had to stain it, I picked the Dinesen products which we also used on our cheap yellow pine floorboards and it was a real win and worth the research. We went for the White soap and the White oil to get the desaturated, milky look and it is a game changer and i'm seriously chuffed with it. I bough these By Lassen Stropp handles to finish it off.
Blogger and Interior Godess Anna Kubel bought these shelves to my attention a while ago. The clever lady flipped them on their side, painted them and HELLO NEW AMAZING SHELVES THAT LOOK DESIGNER. I just need to find a space in the house that they fit. And i'm guessing i'd have to use a pint primer as they are a lacquer finish.
Comes in white and black and can either clamp to something (bedhead, shelf, joinery) or wall hung. It's so simple but so stylish and multifunctional and I love the black and white striped cord, which is a decent length - a stingy electrical flex annoys me so much, the sad individual that I am. We fixed ours to the cot (pre Jude actually sleeping there) and now it's on his shelf.
It breaks my lil heart that i've never had a flat or house big enough to fit this in. It's a really deep sofa (99cm to be precise) and quite a solid form with strong clean lines - so you need a big old space to carry it off, and that I do not have. As soon as I get my barn conversion i'm getting me a zip van and i'm going to the big blue and yellow Swedish giant and picking me up that beauty. Bemz do amazing prewashed linen 'loosefit' covers for them which make them look like a million dollars. If you have a big living room and don't know what sofa to buy - this is your man x 100. The very talented Pella Hedeby styled this one for Bemz. And it's good.
I will not let anyone say a bad word about this classic Ikea item. Its HUGE (350 x 250cm), It's CHEAP (£270) and it's cool - one cannot fault this rug. The great thing about flatweave rugs are there is no moulting and they clean up well. Sassy little number and I like, I like a lot.
6. THE MOSSLANDA PICTURE LEDGE
Nina Holst you are a true talent. I love that she's painted the picture ledges the same colour as the walls as a kind of gallery wall meets book shelf. It's simply a brilliant Ikea hack. Oh and olive tree against that wall colour - mmmmmmm.
